Last-minute Madge
Posted on June 29th, 2006 No commentsI’m trying to help a friend out. He has a ticket for Madonna this Sunday, July 2 at Madison Square Garden and is unable to go. Its face value is $375. He’s willing to sell it for just about anything at this point. (He’s even willing to give it away if he doesn’t get any money for it. The thought of it going to waste is driving him crazy.) It’s only one ticket, and it’s in section 45, row F. Let me know if you or someone you know is interested. Thanks!
UPDATE: The ticket’s been sold. The response was great. Damn, I guess some of you actually read this thing.

News flash: smoking, it’s bad for you
Posted on June 28th, 2006 No comments Actually, it is news. It’s official. Second-hand smoke has been declared unsafe by the Surgeon General, even in small amounts. The report goes as far as blaming second-hand smoke for asthma, blood vessel damage, heart disease, and lung cancer.
Not interested in getting any of these ailments? Then either stay in New York City or move to one of these places. With the release of this new report, however, it’s only a matter of time before smokers get their butts kicked out of public places nationwide.
And if you’re a smoker, quit already.
Thanks to Dave for the heads-up on this story.

Cherry juice
Posted on June 26th, 2006 No comments When’s the last time you ate cherries? How about cherry juice? Where does one even get cherry juice?
If a recent study holds water, we may be seeing more and more of this obscure drink. Although it does nothing for muscle pain and range of motion, drinking cherry juice may help decrease muscle tenderness and increase muscle strength.
Wait a minute: “The cherry juice blend was supplied by Cherrypharm, Inc., which funded the study…. The journal notes that the researchers each have 2.5% equity in Cherrypharm, Inc.” Hmmm….

Starbucks will make you grande
Posted on June 20th, 2006 No commentsI hate Starbucks. Two very nice coffee shops in my neighborhood closed, presumably because of competition with the nearby Starbucks locations. On the off chance that I do find myself in a Starbucks, the only way I can stomach their bitter burnt coffee is to have one of their fancy coffee drinks. Beware, though. Don’t let that yuppy facade fool you. Although coffee itself is low in calories, when it’s all fixed up it can become worse than a Big Mac.

Ouch, Part 5
Posted on June 7th, 2006 No commentsThe case did not go to court today because there was no defendant. The department of corrections never picked him up.
The rescheduled date is probably Thursday, June 15. The assistant DA will let me know for sure a couple of days before. If this ends up being the date, then I’ll have to re-sub the two classes that I’m covering at Wall Street that afternoon. (Yes, this means I would lose money, and yes, I am getting pissed off.)
